A Brief History

A Brief History

The Department of Informatics Engineering is one of the departments under the Faculty of Industrial Technology at Universitas Trisakti. Initially, there was a single study program, Informatics Engineering, which was officially established based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 379/DIKTI/Kep/1996, granting registered status for the Bachelor’s (S-1) level in 1996.

To ensure the quality of education, the study program underwent accreditation by BAN-PT. On November 12, 2010, it obtained a C rating, valid until November 12, 2015. Through continuous quality improvement, the program subsequently achieved a B rating on September 12, 2015, valid until September 12, 2020. This status was extended through BAN-PT Decree No. 5543/SK/BAN-PT/Ak-PPJ/S/IX/2020 dated September 15, 2020.

In line with the policy on standardizing study program names issued by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia through Decree of the Director General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology No. 163/E/KPT/2022, on February 6, 2023, the Informatics Engineering Study Program submitted a request to change its name to the Informatics Study Program. This process was officially ratified through Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia No. 884/E/O/2023 dated December 1, 2023, concerning the name change of the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Informatics Engineering to the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Informatics at Universitas Trisakti, organized by the Trisakti Foundation.

As part of a quality assurance process based on learning outcomes and relevance to industry needs, the Informatics Study Program at Universitas Trisakti underwent accreditation by LAM INFOKOM (Independent Accreditation Board for Informatics and Computers). Based on LAM INFOKOM Decree No. 036/SK/LAM-INFOKOM/Ak/S/III/2025 dated March 17, 2025, the Informatics Study Program was awarded a “Very Good” Accreditation rating, valid until March 17, 2030.

In response to developments in information technology, labor market demands, and input from stakeholders such as employers of graduates and alumni, as well as the demands of change, the Department of Informatics Engineering has defined its graduate profile as follows:
